Viva Voce Presentation

So nearly finished, a week until my presentation have been thinking about what I need to include;

- where did my ideas come from?
- why did I chose my question?
- mind mappin ideas - where they led to etc
- what worked for me?
- what didn't work so well?
- relate back to the research document
- key conclusions I found from that
- artefact findings and how it lead to next artefact
- still the same conclusions now after 5 artefacts? - strong reasoning and connection to why artefacts were created


My aim is to make the case for my research, I am seeking to justify the design of the process. Nedd to outline and analyse my findings.

After much research into Leicester Police and how they have adapted to social media sites to allow them to interact with the public I have come to the conclusions that Facebook and Twitter are used by all age groups, but a largely within the 16-25 year old age bracket. The use of the police using social networking sites means that although this group is probably the hardest to communicate with to enforce the law, the force can now have communication and dialogue with teens and understand them more now they have more interaction. Looking through the followers @leicespolice have a large number of them are from the younger generation, who may not want to read local newspapers to find out what's happening in the community but can easily access it from social networking.

Social media is also an helpful tool for educating the public. Tweets I saw covered topics from crime reports to tips, traffic updates, and even weather updates. This is now spread to the public quickly and efficiently. Crisis communications can also reach community members quickly and efficiently. There may be a missing person, and these social networking sites become an active way to get information out within seconds. Times have moved on from having to update the homepage on the website. Although this is still done it also provides information about the police, what to do in emergencies whereas the social networking side covers incidents all day every day.

In terms of my research project this has allowed me to see not only local businesses reactions to the growth of digital media but how it can effect the community, I feel for my next artefact I really want to focus on the consumer/customers point of views on how the opportunities of technology have effected them in terms of businesses they use. Obviously I know it will differ within g generations but to what degree will this be?

Last Week Of The First Year..

& I have finished all 3 of my projects - my interactive I feel being the strongest, animation obviously the weakest.

I have finished my assessment presentation & will upload it on here soon!

One Week To Go..

until deadline for visual essay & presentation.

Have just uploaded my interactive media & evaluation to the dropbox - also made it live.

My visual essay and presentation are about halfway through, have just got an email saying Waverley is closed for 4 weeks from next week which is brilliant as I was hoping to edit my film & animation.

I am going to try and improve my animation now but my track record with it this plan may not go too well! also if I have time will do my own edit for film Herds.

Also need to make dvds today if Waverley is closed?!

Presentation

I'm presenting my dp2 presentation to Deb - would have prefered Shaun as I am doing the interactive pathway so my strength in the powerpoint would be this & not film but hopefully it'll be a ok :)

I'm doing a powerpoint & it seems pretty easy, 5 slides on each project - the design process of each one & how we think it could be improved, what's good & what's bad etc etc!

I now need to make my portfolio live - will try this tomorrow.
Finish visual essay & make this live.

Improve my ainamtion & film a little if time & finish presentation.

Quick Update

.. After another 2 weeks off.

I currently have 2 weeks left of interactive media & have no problem with the deadline as I am well underway with my online portfolio & really enjoying this part of the module.

I have started my visual essay & although I may not be doing it 100% correct I am pretty sure i'm on the right track and will finish it in plenty of time for the deadline - 27th May.

I need to start my end of term presentation which hopefully shouldn't take too long as I know what I am doing as I have already done one - saying this I do need to start asking peers for feedback & improving my animation which I keep putting off as I am dreading it!

Term 1 Complete :) :)

:D I presented my presentation to Simon & Andrew today who seemed pretty impressed :) Lasted 10 minutes & also handed them the DVDS of my work & process :)

Wasn't too happy on the train home when we were stranded in the middle of no where for 2 and half hours due to a "suicidal man" at leicester train station but at least it was on the way home and not on the way to the presentation.

I am so excited for christmas & 4 weeks offf :D

I have finished my presentation & will upload it to here soon :) I have finished my essay on a beautiful 1505 words :) & all I have to do now it put my work onto a DVD which i'm going in to uni to do tomorrow - the thing i'm dreading the most if im honest as i'm rubbbbishhhh with technology & have never burnt anything to a DVD in my life, first time for everything!

:) & it's 18 dayssss to christmas :D :D

SOMEBODY HELP ME

I really need help with the dvd for presentation :( I understand what needs to go on the disks but my files wont burn to it?! is there any way I should be doing it? & I have DVD+R not -R or RW will this work?

Pleaseeeeee help me anyoneee! :)

For The Use Of My Presentation - Changes Made To Interactive Space

I didn’t make many changes, I kept with the original idea & photos but added text to the photos. I had text on some photos already but changed the colour to red & blue so it would appeal to children & the font is now comic sans which I feel is a “child like” font. I added text to keep the user involved and to help them along the way with the game. I used pronouns such as “you” to make the child feel that the characters were actually talking to them. Taking the feedback into account the text to ratio amount is now more equal than before. I made the "give me a clue" image more clearer of what it means & where to click. The rollover hyperlink text on the image is now in capital letters as I felt it made it more excitable and as if the text was "shouting" at the user adding to the feel of excitment. I feel my project is now more interactive with the user and adjusts well to the audience of young children.

Update On Assignment & Presentation

I am so so happy these are the last few days and then we have time off for christmas, also enjoyed opening my 4 advent calenders this morning :)

I finallly finished my first draft of the context 1 essay :D I sent it to Jools earlier & he gave me some feedback which i'm then going to do tomorrow so it's all done :D

I have a plan set out for how to do my presentation I just need to do it! So after my essay tomorrow i'm going to start on my presentation and finish it off over the weekend. I'm presenting to Simon & Andrew which i'm pretty happy about , plussssss i'm basing the presentation on my interactive space which is what they both taught :)

Now off to catch up on the apprentice & be up nice and early for a long trip to uni in the snow

Design Practise 1 Powerpoint

Todays lecture was about the final week presentation of all the projects we have done so far. It should last 10 mins & we will show it to two lecturers.

We were told to produce the main bulk of our presentation using our "best work". I will use my interactive space as I think that it the best one out of the 3 that conforms to the brief. I am going to get feedback from this project so I can improve it a little & explain why I did this.

Essay is nearly complete so will finish that & then start on the presentation :)
